After step 5 the installation fails

    Dear Sirs:

After I waste a lot of time changing the permissions to 777 of all directories and files I could install the package, but something happened.

After the installation finished I couldnt login with the personal account. The administrator account works well.

The question is. Is this installation confident or not?

These are the messages I received after step 5. Please comment me something about it

    The permissions

    Dear Sirs:
From Mexico hoping you understand my English

My web site is hosted in a shared mode with a host provider and I havent any possibility to change the owner of the directories and files, neither I have telnet or ssh access. I have to change the permissions with an FTP program.

These are the version of the main programs:

    Apache version 1.3.29 (Unix)
    MySQL version 4.0.15-standard
    PHP version 4.3.4
You can see the phpinfo here: http://ccciztacalco.org/phpinfo.php

During the first installation all the directories and files were chmoded to 777. I think this is insecure and the installation fails after step 5 as I wrote in the previous message.

I tried a second time with the directories and files unchanged after I uploaded them to my webhost.
It seems to function, let me explain.

If you install without changing anything, the errors are the next

    Error
    content/ is not writeable.
    content/import/ is not writeable.
    content/chat/ is not writeable.
    include/config.inc.php is not writeable.

If you change the specified directories to 777 and press the bottom Try Again
everything finished well, and data saved successfully.

But all other directories remain with 755 permissions and files remain with 644 permissions. Im suspicious if them will remain this way

    Is this ok?

A table with the permissions of all the directories and files will give the administrator a less pessimistic feeling of security.

    Owner system more secure

It seems you've solved the problem. Changing permissions on the listed directories in the install error message, is how the install occurs. Only those directories should be writable.

Yes, this is less secure than changing the owner. If you are on a hosted system, this is all you can do to make these directories writable.
