installation perfect but points to wrong links

installation perfect but points to wrong links

Things to describe:
operating system - windows server 2003
version of ATutor - 1.5.2(latest)
versions of php - 4.something, green tick in installation
version of mysq l - it said unknown, but database created fine
webserver & version - its MS IIS, version i really cant remember but again there was a green tick
copies of error messages - no error messages during installation
changes to default settings - nil
web browser being used - mozilla fiefox latest
and anything else relevant - NOW WE TALK THE PROBLEM OUT.
I downloaded atutor.tar.gz, unzipped on my local comp running win xp sp2, then FTPed (Auto mode, was unsure if it must be binary or ascii) atutor folder to the wwwroot folder of my website that runs on windows server, opened browser and brought up- www.doctoratyourdoorstep.com/atutor/
INSTALLATION WAS A BREEZE. NO ISSUES.
Then I logged in as administrator and a page comes up which shows all the buttons only as hyperlinked text and themes are missing. Still no hassle. The PROBLEM IS ALL THE LINKS POINT WRONGLY. E.G. CREATE USER POINTS TO- http://www.doctoratyourdoorstep.com/atutor/admin/admin/create_user.php, while the real path is http://www.doctoratyourdoorstep.com/atutor/admin/create_user.php.
Now if i manuaally delete one 'admin/' from my browser address bar, the correct page opens up sans any theme.
Can someone tell me if i did something wrong or have these links been set wrongly etc.

Re: installation perfect but points to wrong links

I've never seen this happen before. Two missing pieces of the system description may be the problem.

IIS 6 is required , which is probably the case if you're on win2003 (IIS5 will not work), as is php4.3+.

It could also be some files were corrupted. Try reinstalling a freshly downloaded copy.

Send us a link to a phpinfo page if the problem persists.

Create a file with the following lines, and open it in your browser
phpinfo();
Re: installation perfect but points to wrong links

WELL!!
as per your advice i decided to install a fresh copy.
so i opened my ftp client and deleted atutor folder and content folder. now the problem is there is a file called config.inc.php in the 'include' folder inside 'atutor'. this file is not getting deleted ftp says 550, access is denied.
so anyway i renamed it to undeletedfile.txt
can i re-upload atutor folder and re-install??

Re: installation perfect but points to wrong links

Installing ATutor via an FTP client is not ideal, but possible. You can "move" the files if they get in the way of re-uploading for the reinstall.

We still need to see a phpinfo dump so we can see the PHP settings.

Re: installation perfect but points to wrong links

Did you delete the old database before installing again? You will need to.

You will also need to turn off register_globals. It should be off regardless, for security reasons. Edit the php.ini file to turn it off, then restart your webserver.

Take a look at the include/config.inc.php file, to make sure the file end with ?>, and there are no foreign charaters in the file.

Also I notice the phpinfo page mentions MySQL 3.23, though the installation output shows 4.1.18. I'm not sure why that might be the case, but it could potentially be part of the problem.

Though ATutor will run with IIS, Apache is recommended. It's support for PHP is much better. If you have the opportunity, switch to Apache. It will save you a variety of headaches.
