    Problems importing a course

Hi, I export a course from WebCT in IMS format to import it to ATutor. I have installed apache13, php 4.3.3 and mysql 4.0.15 and zlib. I set to the content directory the permission 777 (chmod 777 content) but when I try to import it I receive the message: "You did not select a file to ipload" and the zip file has the imsmanifest.xml.
    What is the problem?
    Thank you.

    Which instructions are you reading.

This has been explained many times in other messages, and it is described in the documentation. The content directory must be set to be recursively writable (-R). Please follow the install instructions carefully!

    No solution

I changed the permissions to: chown -R nobody:nobody content and the same mesaage is showed, then I changed the permissions to chmod -R a+rwx content and the same message is showed. The problem continue.

    Try Reload

It is possible the WebCT content package is invalid. We have experienced problems with WebCT packages. See if you can open your content package with Reload or Microsoft LRN.

    http://www.reload.ac.uk/editor.html
    http://www.microsoft.com/elearn/support.asp

Send us the WebCT content package, and we'll try to figure out where the problem exists.

I don't know how to resolve it!!!

I downloaded the LRN feature and all the examples that I could find in the page of Microsoft LRN because I wanted to import these courses to ATutor and prove it. But these example courses (all those can be opened with Microsoft LRN) can't be imported to ATutor. What happened? If a content can be opened with Microsoft LRN, can be imported to ATutor or not?.

    Send us a content package

ATutor should import WebCT content packages.

Send us a WebCT content package.

    The couses

Hi, I can't send you the courses because the minimum size of one course is 5 MB and I have a connection of 56k. I will say to you the url of the courses: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=a417be3a-e543-4de3-839e-537a15fe0b61&DisplayLang=en
Download for example RobotDemo.zip and try to import the course to ATutor. This course is in IMS Format version 1.1 and I could import it to WebCT so it could be possible to import it to ATutor.
My teacher download the courses in my University because they have a T3 connection there and then past me the courses.

    RobotDemo does import into ATutor

    Hello Marco
I had no trouble importing the RobotDemo into ATutor, however the package contains Director files (.dcr) that would require a Director plugin to display.

If you are having trouble importing the package onto your system, be sure the upload_max_filesize variable in php.ini is set to a value sufficiently large enough to allow uploading of large files. By default this value is set to 2mb, so it will need to be set to something larger than the 5.1 mb size of the RobotDemo package.

Also be sure the Max File Size and Course Quota are set large enough to allow upload the file. Use the administrator's course properties tool to reset these sizes.

    Upgrade to 1.3+

Content packaging in not available in ATutor 1.2.2. You will need to upgrade to 1.3 or greater.

    importing

I already upgraded. I was wandering wether it is possible to import a course created with a former version of ATUTOR (1.2) in the latest release. I had this recurrent error while tryg to migrate a course from a server to the other with different version of ATUTOR. I got the error on the latest installation (1.3.1)
    thanks

Moving content from 1.2 to 1.3+

You can import content from 1.2 created using the 1.2 "export" tool, into 1.3+ using the 1.3 "backups" tool.

It is also possible to upgrade your system without any importing/exporting. Your content will remain intact when you upgade.
