Remote install import error cant createw import directory

Just transferred a local installation (1.5) to remote host, on a LAMP server. All working apart from importing. I am trying to import the "How to" course into the welcome course.

It starts uploading but then reports error "import unsuccesful, can't create import directory"

I have used Cute-FTP to CHMOD the content folder (I use /ATutor/content) to "public" write permsissions. No change. Is this the right folder to write enable or is there something else?

    Thanks for any help.

    can't create import directory

    hello,
the directory it's referring to is 'content/import/1', where 1 is the course id (so whatever number is appropriate). either it can't create 'import' or it can't create the course dir. check again that you have permission to create new dirs under /content
