    three problems after installing

Just finished installing ATutor. No problems there.

When I log in as an admin, I somehow loose access to the admin pages and can only view my user pages. I'm able to view the initial pages, but when I try to create a course or backup a course, I get bumped down to user from admin.

Then, I randomly get blank pages (or it seems random, I can't figure out a pattern that causes this) that will not reload.

Also I can't find instructions anywhere on how to install the ATutor How-to Zip file. What directory do I unpack it in? There's no read me file inlcuded either.

    operating system - Linux
    version of ATutor - 1.4.3
    versions of php - 4.3.10
    version of mysq l - 4.0.22 standard
    webserver & version - Apache 1.3.33 (Unix)
copies of error messages - N/A
changes to default settings - None
web browser being used - Firefox
and anything else relevant - Use hosting service, I don't have root access.

    Thanks!

    register_globals off

I'm guessing you need to turn register_globals off to fix the first problem. Use the search to find answers. (terms php_flag or register_globals)

The HowTo documentation is a course. You can upload the backup with the Instructors Backup tool then restore it, or you can import the content packages using the Instructor's Content Packaging tool. All of this is described in the HowTo course, which you can browse on atutor.ca

2 problems solved, 1 to go.

For anyone interested, I found the answer to the blank pages and admin login problems in this thread. Creating the .htaccess file appears to solve both problems:

As for the How-to Zip file, still working on that one out, but think I can figure it out from here.

    Thanks greg!
