    Install Stops in step 6

Everything goes fine, database is created and communication established. While trying to save the configuration (Step6) it doesn't continue to step 7, no matter if config.inc.php is Read/Only or Read/Write.

    Things to describe:
operating system - Win 2003 Server
    version of ATutor - 1.4.3
    versions of php - 4.3.11
    version of mysq l - 4.0.24
    webserver & version - IIS/6

    Try Apache

Try using the Apache webserver, or install EasyPHP (which includes Apache). You can download EasyPHP from the downloads page below. It should install with a few clicks.

    http://www.atutor.ca/atutor/download.php

Php was created for Apache, and works well with it. Php support in IIS is less than perfect. Reports suggest ATutor works for some installations of IIS, but not others.

Unfortunately we do not have a 2003/IIS system to test with. If you discover solutions, please post them here.

    Any EasyPHP

Any version of EasyPHP will do that has Apache 1.3* included with it.

You can keep IIS. You will need to run either Apache or IIS on something other than the default port 80. See the configuration options in either to change ports.

    GREAT !!!!!!1

    Thanks a lot greg.

The EasyPHP worked great in my home computer (WinXP IIS/5) and I have a working copy of ATutor.

I'll try it tomorrow at work with Winn 2003 server and IIS/6.

I'll be using it to setup a lot of medical education courses for the National Rehabilitation Center in Mxico City. I'll let you know.

The use uf EasyPHP under Windows SHOULD be a sticky in the forum

    YES !!!

    OK greg,

ATutor 1.4.3 installs easily after installing EasyPHP 1.8 with the default parameters on a Server with Win2003.

This is an easy way to have a working installation of ATutor under Windows, at least to be able to see how PHP, mySQL, and Apache are configured.

I'll use it as definitive installation and will use IIS/6 on port 8080.
