    Installation problem

Trying a fresh installation of ATutor 1.4.3

    Step 0 everything ok
    Step 1 agreeing ...
Step 2 giving Dabase Username and Database password
it tells me that database atutor was created successfully
    connected to database successfully
    created all tables successfully

    but

there is no button to go on at end of page ... ?

    This is the system:

    Debian "testing"
    ATutor 1.4.3
    PHP 4.3.10-2
    Mysql 4.0.23
    Apache 1.3.33

    Mozilla 1.7.5

    Try again

I don't see anything that might cause the button not to appear. It is likely a browser problem.

Try reinstalling with a fresh download of ATutor, and if that does not correct the problem, try using a different browser.

    Done but ...

Actually, I have done it with a new donload.

Using other browsers of other machines in the same LAN:

When using IE 6.0 from a Windows 2000 machine, Mozilla Firefox 5.0 from a Linux box, IE 5.2 from a Mac, Safari from the same Mac,

we have the same behaviour: no button after the green feedback in step 2

If I go to see in the mysql database, the correct database is created and the tables are there and seem to be ok.

With some of the browsers, by trying again without erasing the created database, we obtain messages of the kind

Safari 1.2.4 cant open the page http://lai.dfc.unifi.it/ATutor/install/install.php because it could not load any data from this location.

I have been using ATutor on another server for 6 months with hundreds of students, many courses, upgrading ... but this is amazing ...

    Reproduced, but...

I was able to reproduce the problem once, when I tried to install ATutor 1.4.3 while register_globals was turned on (it should be off).

But when I restarted my browser and tried again, register_globals on, then off, everything went fine. I can't say what the problem is. There does not seem to be anything in the code to explain this behaviour. It may be a php bug.

I used Mozilla 1.4 on a gentoo linux system to do the install on to a gentoo linux system with Apache1.3.29/php4.3.4

The only thing I can suggest is to make sure register_globals is turned off, and try again with a fresh browser session.

We have installed ATutor 1.4.3 on dozens of systems, and this is the first time I've seen this problem.
