determining if message is received
I have butchered a theme that I'm working on and consequently I have killed the inbox icon that flashes when a new message has been received.
where is it determined whether or not a new message has arrived so that I can make a new icon (that flashes) if one has arrived.
I'm not going to be able to use any of the coding that is built in to the default theme because as I said, it's been massacred.
I'd like to know where that query is housed that determines if a new message has arrived and know how to incorporate that into my new theme?
