    cannot contact instructor

    If you are asking for help, provide lots of detail so problems can be reproduced.
    I am logged in as student. I want to contact the course instructor through "contact course instructor" at the end of the description of the course. When message is send i get the error message that there was error sending the message. And the message is not sent to the instructor. "Some time i also get the error that: Error on the page and the bla nk page appears."

    Please i appreciate anyone's help.

    Things to describe:
    operating system -win Xp
    version of ATutor -1.4.2
    versions of php -4.3.0
    version of mysq l -3.23.x
    webserver & version -1.3.23
    copies of error messages -Contact Course Instructor
    There was an error sending the message
    changes to default settings -no change
    web browser being used -Internet explorer 6.0
    and anything else relevant -

    Check mail server

    Be sure your mail server is working.

    If not set the SMTP setting to TRUE in include/config.php so ATutor uses an external mail server (e.g. the one you normally send through when you send email) , then set the SMTP settings in php.ini and restart your webserver.

    How an instructor send request to administrator

    Thank you very much your above solution to "cannot contact instructor" has solved my problem.

    I am looking for ways how can an instructor send mail to administrator so that it can appear to the administrator (when he is logged in) in the home Menu and below the Instructor requests.

    I am looking for your help.

    Help Screen

    See the help screen when logged in as an instructor, for the contact administrator form. It sends email to the administrator.

    It sends mail to administrator own email

    I have tried this already. I found that it sends mail to administrator's personal email address which he/she had entered at the time of atutor installation. But i am looking for ways how an instructor can send mail to administrator so that it appears in the administrator's mail box in Atutor. i wish this message to appear in the administrators home and under the title " insrtuctors request". (please see atutor's page by logging to asministrator: hope it will clearify you)

    No admin inbox

    An administrator inbox is not a feature of ATutor. Contact is by email only. Sent to the email address entered when setting up ATutor. If you need to change that email address, it is in include/config.inc.php

    change status from user to instructor

    How can an user send an email to administrator to change his status from user to instructor?

    I cannot find form in the users login screen to send mail to administrator.
    please help me.
