  Help Database connection error on installation

  Whilst attempting to install Atutor i have come up against a problem. On the initial setup you are asked to input your database username and password. Once i have done this and clicked next it returns an error, "unable to connect to database". I have set up a username and password using the WinMySQLAdmin.I noticed there was no MyODBC driver installed so i installed the current version but still can't connect. Can anyone offer me any help please?

  PHP 4.3.5
  aTutor 1.4.2
  Apache 1.3.33
  MySQL 4.0.22

  Fixed

  The username and login i assigned using the winmysqladmin window appeared to be having no effect. I used the default loginname "root" and password blank. once set up, you can change the config.inc.php file for a more suitable username and password should you desire to change the default login settings for mysql
