customize the My Start page

  customize the My Start page

  I would like to add a couple paragraphs of text to the My Start page, but how? I have tried inserting text through and include in the file /users/index.php, but when I do the text is either at the very top of the page (above the header image) or at the very bottom (below the footer info), if I try to put it anywhere else it simply does not appear on the page at all. Is it possible to just put it in the right column in place of the news information?

  Typically its the theme templates you will want to edit.
  /themes/default/...
  
  Or, if not default/ then in the theme you are using.

  Correct me if I am wrong, but the themes only allow changing the colors and fonts, not the actual layout of the page. So apparently I am missing something in working on modifying themes. I haven't yet found the actual file that contains the layout code - the left 2/3's for the courses and the right 1/3 for the news. It's that right side that I want to change - simply replace the news with general website info. Or possibly insert the general info above the two columns.
