Video files downloading instead of playing

Operating system ATutor is installed on - Ubuntu 14.04
ATutor version - 2.2
Patch #s applied -
ATutor theme name -
PHP version - 5.5.9
MySQL version - 5.5
Webserver & version - apache 2.47
Copies of error messages -
Changes to default settings -
Web browser being used - Firefox,Chrome, and others tested

Hi All,
I have setup atutor at the office for internal training purposes.
However after settingup courses and uploading files (tried both mp4 and flv files) , when logging in as a user(student) and want to view a file, it tries to download the files instead of playing it in the browser.
We have enabled the flowplayer plugin but no changes whatsoever.
How can we get the plugin to play the videos instead of downloading it?
The help would be greatly appreciated.
