    Hello ATutor:

I come here with cap firmly in hand.

I inherited a broken ATutor install at

    http://www.maddcanadatraining.ca/courses/

I am trying to upgrade the install from 1.4.2. to 2.0 since the web host could no longer support 1.4.2.

I am stuck at Step 2 with the error message above and a list of tables that it could not create. I check the MySQL user and it has all the rights required.

If you can provide any guidance, that would be appreciated.

    Fraser

Re: Inherited a broken Atutor install

Can you please confirm the exact version you are upgrading to.

The upgrade may be failing because it is not finding English language. You may need to reinstall the english language pack.

Also try using a different browser.

    Hello Greg:

    Thanks for the reply.

    I downloaded 2.1 from Sourceforge.

I tried unsuccessfully to upload the language pack. I'll try and run the SQL.

Re: Inherited a broken Atutor install

Installing a language pack should not generate these errors so I'm guess you did not use the admin's language manager.

These errors would appear to be the result of trying to create table that already exist if you are trying to install over a previous attempt.

Or, if this is a fresh install, the mysql user does not have the necessary permissions. Be sure the mysql user has create database and table privileges, and table alter privileges.

Re: Inherited a broken Atutor install

Correct. Those errors were from Step 2 of an installation (2.1 over an existing 1.4.2).

If I wanted to engage services, would purchasing a single support ticket from -

    http://www.atutor.ca/services/

be the proper course of action?

    Thanks,

    Fraser

Re: Inherited a broken Atutor install

An upgrade is typically three tickets, though this may need your system admin to upgrade if the mysql user does not have enough permission, which would appear to be the case.

Did you create a backup of the database before attempting to upgrade?

Is there a reason for choosing 2.1 rather than 2.2?

If you send the shell and ATutor login details to "info AT atutor dot ca" we'll take a look first to see if we are able to upgrade without your sysadmin.

Re: Inherited a broken Atutor install

    No. No back up. Naturally.

I tried 2.2 and the install said it was a no-go - too big a leap from 1.4.2.

I'll work on getting Shell access.

Control p[anel access would also be helpful, if you have one.
