    link Atutor with a website

    Hello!

I want to install Atutor on my Linux Ubuntu Server,
but I would know if it is possible to link Atutor with an existing website or I have to buy a new domain.
And how can I do it?

    Thank you!!!

Re: link Atutor with a website

ATutor will install fine on an Ubuntu system. You can install it as a sub-directory in your current site. You don't need a separate domain. To link it back to your main site, when setting up ATutor, or editing the site's System Preferences, enter the location of your parent site in the Home URL field.

See the installation instructions for additional details:

    Ok. I understand this.
So, if an user wants to connect himself to my Atutor server he must link to my current website address?

    Thank you so much!!!

Re: link Atutor with a website

That is totally up to you. You can create a new domain, or install ATutor on your current site. There are lots of possibilities.

Re: link Atutor with a website

Where users find ATutor on your site depends on where you install it.

If it is installed in a directory under your current site, it might be accessed at

    www.currentsite.com/ATutor

This is kind of basic knowledge when it comes to setting up a Web site. Perhaps you need help from someone who is familiar with setting up a Web site.

Re: link Atutor with a website

Ok. Let me see if I understood all and if I'm proceeding correctly. So I will explain you my situation and what I want to do.

I want to install Atutor on my local server that I've just created, but also I want this Atutor must be accessible from my school site by students and teachers.

So if I install Atutor on my local server, and not on my school site, it means that I have to create a site or use a platform as Joomla! to create a way where a teacher can connect himself to my server. Is it correct?

Then, when a student/teacher connects himself to www.currentsite.com/Atutor, which interface can he see? that of Atutor management with Sistem preferences etc..or another interface? Is Autor front end ?

Thank you very much for your patience

Re: link Atutor with a website

Assuming ATutor is running correctly on your local server, you'd need to find out the IP address of the machine, and assuming your firewall allows access to port 80, you would link to ATutor with something like http://123.234.345.456/ATutor, changing the IP address of course to your own.

This is probably not the right place to find help on setting up a Web accessible server. There are lots of resources out there you can find through Google etc.

Re: link Atutor with a website

    You're right.

I found all knowledges I need.
    My local server runs correctly.

Now I'm following your videotutorial to install ATutor, but Filezilla don't let me to transfer the downloaded ATutor folder to the server. It gives me :
550 Permission denied. Is there another way to do this operation?

Re: link Atutor with a website

Do a Google search for "Filezilla 550 Permissions denied"

Re: link Atutor with a website

    I did it.
But forums suggestions didn't resolve my problem.
