Problem with Export Backup

Hi,

perhaps I have some more specific information about my backup export problem posted on 2004-08-25 04:36:14

Trying with the same configuration but with Konqueror instead of Netscape:

ATutor 1.4.1
Linux Slackware 9.0
Apache 1.3.27
PHP 4.3.1
MySQL Ver 8.23 Distrib 3.23.56
Konqueror 3.1.0

when trying to export a backup of a course I get the following message:

-----
An error occured while loading http://med1nuc7.dfc.unifi.it/ATutor/tools/backup/backup_export.php:

Connection to host med1nuc7.dfc.unifi.it is broken

Problem with Export Backup

I'm having a hard time reproducing this. It seems to have something to do with files in the File Manager. Uploading a zip file that is large enough causes this problem. I can only reproduce this on your server though.

Can you try using the 1.4.2 RC1 and see if it does the same thing? You should be able to ugprade your installation to 1.4.2 RC1 but RC's themselves cannot be upgraded later on.

Problem with Export Backup

I upgraded to 1.4.2 RC1 but the problem is still there.

However, I think you are right: I erased the largest files in the File Manager and then I was able to export the backup.

You are also saying to be able to reproduce the problem on my system only. I will review my configuration in the meanwhile, unless you have some suggestions.

Thanks

Problem with Export Backup

Hi,

Yes, I'm sure now the problem is due to a couple of large files in the
ATutor/content directories. In my case these are a couple of file
.jar containing applets. I tried in another installation (same
software, the computer only is different) finding the same
problem. Don't know the reason yet. In
the short term however it is ok: I place the applets file in some
other directories parallel to the ATutor directory. So I can use the
system without giving up the backup tools that is crucially
useful. After all I do not plan to add many other such applets.

If in the meanwhile we understand the problem, well better ...

Thanks
Andreas

CGI timeout

we experienced a CGI timeout while trying to import a backup file into the new software (connecting via a modem 56 k); we increased the IIS timeout to 9000 sec but the problem is still there. Is there any setting I sould modify in the php.ini to solve this problem ?

any suggestion is welcome

CGI timeou

try increasing the values in php.ini for max_execution_time and max_input_time

Discovered the problem ... probably

While adding more files in content/ I reached a point where the problem appeared again. Browsing the php.ini configuration file found the parameter

memory_limit = 8M ; Maximum amount of memory a script may consume (8MB)

in the

; Resource Limits ;

section.

Once put to something higher (tried with 10 MB) the Export Backup worked again.

greetings
