Test error

    Test error

    Hi,
We've cloned an existing course but are having a problem with the tests within the course - receiving the following message:

    The following errors occurred:
The test cannot be taken. It is not available at this time, or you have reached the maximum number of attempts for this test.

How can we correct this ? We wish to use the same tests in the new course.
    Many thanks
    Jim

    Re: Test error

You need to set the test release dates once imported into the new course. By default they are set to unavailable when imported.

    Re: Test error

    Hello again Greg,
    Thanks for your response.

I've checked the test availability dates and they are ok. I altered one to show it as expired and then reset the date to check...with the same result.

What we have on the page, is an image with a link to the test. Hovering over this i can see a test ID - is this likely to be trying to link in some way to the original course test with a different test id ? If so how can I find and tweak the id of the test in the new course. Just a thought.
    Cheers
    Jim

Hi Greg - any ideas on how I can resolve the issue of the test not working ?
    Regards,

    Re: Test error

Check to be sure the tests have questions associated with them.

Try restoring a backup of the course, and if that does not work, try exporting the test from the parent course as a QTI package (assuming you are using 1.6.2+)

If niether of those works, there may have been a problem with the install. Try a fresh install, then import a backup or QTI package again.

    Re: Test error - sorted

    Hi Greg,
I've managed to sort it. We link a button to a test from one of the course pages. When cloning the course, it does appear the these buttons are trying to link to the tests on the old course.

I checked the tests on the new course 'homepage' and when hovering the mouse over the link, can see that they were different to the IDs we had on the button links. A quick correction of the html code for the link and hey presto ! All working.
    Thanks anyway.
    Cheers,
    Jim
