Importing SCORM questions

    Importing SCORM questions

Hello. I have 1.6.2 installed and I'm considering using some quiz creation software to work with ATutor.

When I publish the quiz as SCORM 1.2, then import it at the question database page, it says, "Import was successful." However, nothing was actually imported.

I've attached a screenshot of the publish page of the quiz creation software..... does it have to do with UTF-8 vs. other options?

    Thank you!

    Re: Importing SCORM questions

    Probably not a utf-8

ATutor takes IMS QTI 1.2 tests.

Or try the SCORM Packages Module.

    Greg,

    Sorry for being dense but.......

I logged in as admin. and I didn't see a module called "SCORM packages".

Also, I thought ATutor was SCORM 1.2 compliant. Is that different than IMS QTI 1.2? I'm really not familiar with all of this terminology.

    Thanks.

    Re: Importing SCORM questions

You need to install the SCORM module under

    admin>Modules>Install Modules

The ATutor SCORM module is SCORM conformant. ATutor itself is QTI 1.2 conformant, which is not the same as SCORM conformance.

    Re: Importing SCORM questions

    Ok. I got it installed.

Now I tried to make a simple quiz (one mult. choice question), and when I imported the SCORM package it said, "Problem with Package Directory".

I've attached the .zip file that the quiz creation program created.

    Thanks for helping.

    Re: Importing SCORM questions

Did you create the directory as instructed by the installer? And make it writable?

    Re: Importing SCORM questions

Uh..... I don't remember seeing anything about creating a dir. and making it writable. I just installed it from "Install modules", then enabled it.

    Maybe I missed something?

    Thanks.

    Re: Importing SCORM questions

I tried your demo quiz with the SCORM Packages module. It seems to work fine. You'll need a fairly recent version of Java installed on computer, as will your stduents. There will be no data saved from the quiz.

You may want to try creating your quizzes with the ATutor quiz creation tools, if you need to save data.

    Re: Importing SCORM questions

    Hmm.....

So, by "data saved" you mean I would have no way of reporting (via ATutor) how a student did on the quiz?

Creating via ATutor is definitely another option I'm looking at. This program (http://www.quiz-creator.com/#10030) has A LOT of neat features to it. You can insert a screenshot and/or an audio comment right into the question via the question creation interface. It also has a question type where you can put in an image, then the user has to click on a certain area of it to get the question correct.

Is there any way to get the "how did I do" data from SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2003, or something called "AICC"? These are the options I have when publishing the quiz via this software.

Thanks for your continued help with this Greg.

    Re: Importing SCORM questions

The module, created by someone else, is not setup to save test scores from SCORM based quizzes

You can insert pretty nuch any content you like in ATutor test questions, though there will be a step or two more because everything is being done on the Web, as opposed to your desktop.

If you want to use an external quiz generator, get one that produces QTI quizzes. If you import a QTI quiz, it becomes a part of the ATutor content, and its data gets saved as ATutor data.

SCORM, AICC etc. are standalone type content, that works on its own.

    Re: Importing SCORM questions

It'll be listed on the Install Modules screen.
