Authenticated Access and tests

Authenticated Access and tests

Atutor version 1.6.1

Hello,

I may have missed this in the handbook and other docs, but it seems that users coming in via authenticated access are unable to preview the tests in a course. Is this a system setting or is it set like this in the code?

Thank you,
Mike

Re: Authenticated Access and tests

Hi,

For a test to be visible to guests, you have to set the respective option in that test's properties. By default, guests can't neither take nor even see a test.

OK...so it looks like the test has to be set to allow guests and to release results immediately, and the course has to be public.

Thanks,
Mike

Re: Authenticated Access and tests

Part 1) yes; part 2) no.

The test results have to be released immediately, true. But this feature has little to do with a course in general; you'll only need to switch Allow Guests in test properties to Yes.

Re: Authenticated Access and tests

I tried that and the user was prompted with the login screen when trying to take a test. Only when the course was set to public, could the user take a test.

It's strange, though, because I have to set the authenticated access before setting the course to public.

Re: Authenticated Access and tests

Not earlier than yesterday I've successfully tested this feature in 1.6.2. You may be doing something wrong, or there's some installation-specific bug.

Please try it in the demo installation, http://www.atutor.ca/atutor/demo.php -- it works there.

yep, you're right. I modified our installation to handle multiple domains and that must have something to do with it. I'll look more deeply into the code.

Thanks for showing me that it works the way you say it's supposed to.

Oh, I see.
I hope you'll find the reason soon and will be able to use the feature in no time.

Best regards,
