automatic enrollment of new students

    automatic enrollment of new students

I'd like to add all new registered users to a list of courses so that I'm sure that every new user can attend a given course without the intervention of an instructor to enroll him/her.

    Where should I start from?

    Ciao,
    Max

Re: automatic enrollment of new students

That page is usefull to manually enroll students.

I'm using aTutor in a company intranet, I'd like to have user automatically enrolled to a set of course, so that whenever a new person is hired I can tell him/her "please go there, register and attend all the courses you have been enrolled".

With the page you suggest, I should wait for the person to register, then enroll him/her to the courses and then ask him/her to attend them.

It's not a terrible way of doing, I know, I was just looking for a more automated process, if any.

Re: automatic enrollment of new students

I've found "Auto Enrollment At Registration" (in "System Preferences"), it looks to be what I'm looking for but it doesn't seem to work.

In "Create/Edit Auto Enrollment" I should select a set of course I'd like people to be automatically enrolled to but the list is empty. I wonder why...

Re: automatic enrollment of new students

Here is a link of what the Auto Enrollment does, in case you haven't read the handbook yet.

You pick the courses at the bottom, and click "add" to add them into the "Courses to Enroll" box.

Re: automatic enrollment of new students

I read the documentation, the list where I should select courses from is empty, look:

    Hi Max,

Maybe I am not making myself clear. I have attached a screenshot. Hopefully it will clear it up a bit.

Harris, unfortunately I don't have the bottom section, the one where you wrote "pick this", I only have the upper section, look at my snapshot.

Re: automatic enrollment of new students

Thx, your finding leads us to a bug. 2 ways to fix it:

    1. If you had access to php.ini, turn on short_open_tag

    Or,

    2. replace admin/auto_enroll_edit.php with the attached one. Please backup the old script before overwriting it in case anything goes wrong with the new one.

Re: automatic enrollment of new students

    Thank you very very much.

If you plan to release a patch for this, I can wait for it. This way the modification will be traced in the patcher.

Re: automatic enrollment of new students

Hi, as 1.6.3 is coming soon, (beta version has been published and release version will be out in a couple of weeks), we are not issuing any more patch for 1.6.2.

You could wait to upgrade to next release of 1.6.3 where the fix will be included. For now, pls use the ways above for temporary fix. Thanks.
