    Files

Hello. I have 1.6.2 installed and working.

When I'm in ATutor (on my current webhost), I can download and view files via File Storage just fine. However, when I download those same files via an FTP client, they are blank or distorted or produce an error.

I'm trying to transfer my site to another webhost and I can't seem to figure out how to get these files transferred. I've got everything transferred to the new webhost (the /ATutor/content/file_storage folder included). I have the configuration settings correct as well. On the new webhost, I can't open the files via File Storage or via FTP client. The files (like above) again are blank, distorted, or produce an error.

Any idea what's going on here? Does anyone have any advice on transferring ATutor to a new webhost?

    Re: Files

    You can try this:

in your current ATutor, login as instructor who creates the course, select the course u want to transfer, go to "Manage" -> "Backups" => "Create", create and download the course backup, repeat this step and create the backups for all the courses.

go to new ATutor, login as instructor whom the course belongs to, go to "Manage" -> "Backups" => "Upload", upload and restore the course backups.

    Re: Files

    Cindy,

    Thanks for responding.

I did that and upon restoring the course I got the following error:

Error : PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature

    Any ideas?

    Re: Files

PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT usually means the zip file is either incomplete or has some formating errors. Can you unzip the downloaded zip file locally?

    Re: Files

No..... In fact, I can't open any of my backups locally after I download them.

Back in Mar. my webhost was bought out by a larger company. Since then, I've had issues with downloading files with the current webhost (EasyCGI)

Additionally, on the new webhost (InMotion) I created a backup, then tried to restore it and I got a "500 Internal Server Error".

Is there some general setting that may need to be fixed for all of this to work properly?

    Thanks.

    Re: Files

Which version of ATutor running on new webhost?

As I know, no settings need to adjust for course backup.

    Re: Files

Cannot re-produce "500 Internal Server Error" problem on course backup. and don't receive any report about it.

I would suggest you to contact webhost administrator regarding your download problem.

Another way to transfer requires more technical skills: copy content folder and mysql database from old to new, provided u knew how to do it. But even so may not solve your problem if new ATutor has problem with course backup.
