  Cannot connect to the database server Installation error

  Hi,
  
  First, sorry for the new thread, did not fin relevant solutions til page 5.
  
  Hi, i have the error: Unable to connect to database server. I created a new dbase name in my hosting's account manager. info i typed in are:
  
  dbase host name: IP address of mysql server
  dbase port: 3306 (DEFAULT)
  username and password: as i set it up
  database name: atutor (default and as i set it up)
  table prefix: AT_
  
  Things to describe:
  Operating system ATutor is installed on - Unix Platform
  ATutor version - 1.6.1
  Patch #s applied - not sure
  ATutor theme name - none yet
  PHP version - 5
  MySQL version - 4
  Webserver & version - not sure
  Copies of error messages - Unable to connect to database server.
  
  Changes to default settings - installation phase yet
  Web browser being used - ie 6
  ...and anything else relevant - hosting from network solutions

  ATutor should have no trouble connecting to MySQL if the location, login, and password for it are correct. Double check the login information for mysql. Please be certain it is correct before we start investigating further.
  
  Also be sure your mysql user has permission to create databases if one does not already exist, and that it has permission to create and alter tables in the database. Ask you service provider if you're not sure.

  Thank you for the response. I tried many things to make sure that I'm typing in the correct mySQL data info. Under the database host name I tried both the IP of my hosting and the IP of my SQL database. I also learned that my mySQL version is upgraded to 5. I will contact my mysql user has permission to create databases. Thanks,
