Norton blocking confirmation emails

    Norton blocking confirmation emails

I'm testing the confirmation email for auto-enroll. And when I click on the link to confirm, Norton blocks the link saying, my computer is attacked. The link is:

    http://cultureadvantage.org/ATutor/confirm.php?id=12&m=d35c8a8e17

After I click on it, it goes to:
    http://transferallsource.com/soft.php?aid=0147&d=6&product=XPA&refer=bb1f0c2b3

Then I get an error message:
    Connection Interrupted
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again.

Norton: An intrusion attempt by transferallsource was blocked.

What does this mean? Is there a way of not requiring the email confirmation? Because when somebody registers, they cannot confirm their email.
    Thanks.

    Re: Norton blocking confirmation emails.

You'd be better to direct this question to the Norton people. We don't have much experience with their products. We use Symantec ourselves, which has never given us any trouble.

    Re: Norton blocking confirmation emails.

This has happened with other web sites recently.

You have most likely gotten your .htaccess files hacked.

    Re: Norton blocking confirmation emails.

I would not assume you've been hacked. That would mean there had to be a way to get in through ATutor to the server's shell to write to the .htaccess file.

It's unlikely that occured, at least not through ATutor. If you have other applications installed on your site, then maybe its possible. If you wnat, you can attache the ATutor .htaccess file here, and we'll take a look.

    Re: Norton blocking confirmation emails.

Thanks. Please tell me how to access the .htaccess file, under which folder of atutor? Thanks.

    Re: Norton blocking confirmation emails.

Check for a way to display hidden file. .htaccess is normally hidden. It exists in the root directory of ATutor.

    Re: Norton blocking confirmation emails.

    Thanks.
    I'll try to find it.

I've noticed that only confirmation emails for Atutor registrations are getting re-routed to some other site. For links to the forum subscription, it goes directly to the forum. All other links from my emails go straight to the websites.

    Re: Norton blocking confirmation emails.

    Replace it with this one:

    http://atutorsvn.atrc.utoronto.ca/repos/atutor/trunk/docs/.htaccess

Placed in the ATutor root directory

    Re: Norton blocking confirmation emails.

Yes, I replaced it now. How long does it take to work usually? I created another enrollment, it sent an email for log in and password, and when I click on the atutor link, it goes to a "viewclick" link that gets blocked.

and I also found two test accounts that I have not created. Would atutor create test accounts in my account?

This is my link:Sent via an ATutor system at http://cultureadvantage.org/ATutor/login.php?course=7

It goes here when I click on it from the email:
    http://viewallclicks.com/soft.php?aid=014701&d=6&product=XPA&refer=bb1f0c2b3

How do I edit the email that goes out so people don't click on the link, instead direct them to copy and paste the link?

    This is getting spooky.

    Re: Norton blocking confirmation emails.

Hi Greg, I just went on chat with Norton support. I was told that it is not a Norton issue, I'm to contact my email client?

All the links through emails that link to my website are redirected to http://viewallclicks.com/..
or to another similar url. However, if I copy and paste the url, they do not get redirected.

Can you please tell me about the email client? I assume it means the email client through atutor? Do you have any ideas? I would be glad to email you the link to my site to see if it can reproduced from your end.

    Thanks.
