How to enable HTML in forums

I am very new to aTutor and although I have revised all administration options, I cannot find the place to activate HTML in forum posts.

Is it possible to enable a wysiwyg editor for forum posts?

    Thanks

Operating system ATutor is installed on - Linux
    ATutor version - 1.6.1
    Patch #s applied - None

No such option for security reasons

There's no option to enable HTML in forum posts because that would give rise to cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cross-site_scripting .

Forums only support some most commonly used formatting (font weight, colors, smileys etc.).

I'd suggest you to have a look at the EWiki module for ATutor at http://www.atutor.ca/atutor/modules/index.php . I believe it supports much more formatting options, and, depending on the intended use, may suit your needs.

Re: No such option for security reasons

How can I post links in the forum, and have them open in another window, instead of opening on the same page? Is this a more secure way?

I purchased the WIki module. So if I post html on the Wikis, is that a more secure way than posting links in the forum?

    Thanks.

Re: No such option for security reasons

Type a URL into the forums. It will get turned into a link. You can not post html to the forums for security reasons. You can not open a link in a new window from the forums without html.

Wiki's use wiki language rather than html. See the documentation with the wiki for details about wiki language.
