  Adding new tool to existing course

  Hi
  
  I'm trying to add a new tool to an existing course. In Administration I have enabled Chat as a Default Student Tool, and so Chat shows when I create a new course.
  
  However, I want Chat to show on existing courses - is this possible, or do we have to re-create courses with the new Default Student Tools settings?

  no, but you will have to enable them in each course. go to manage -> student tools and click tools on / off!
