    Enabling Email notifications

Am using the latest version of Atutor and i would kindly request someone to take me through a step by step approach on how to configure email notifications when users register.
I wonder if sendmail has anything to do with it.

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Enabling E-mail notifications

First we need to know about the server ATutor is running on. See below.

If you are asking for help, provide lots of detail so problems can be reproduced.

    Things to describe:
    operating system -
    version of ATutor -
    versions of php -
    version of mysq l -
    webserver & version -
    copies of error messages -
    changes to default settings -
    web browser being used -
    and anything else relevant -

If you are asking for help, provide lots of detail so problems can be reproduced.

    Things to describe:
operating system -Linux Redhat 9 AS 4
    version of ATutor -1.5.5
    versions of php -5
    version of mysq l -
    webserver & version -
    copies of error messages -
    changes to default settings -
    web browser being used -
and anything else relevant -Well just that my registered users cannot receive email notifications. Also i wondering if this has to do with having a separate mail server. IO have sendmail installed as my default mailing agent and i dont see it throwing any errors.
Besides enabling e-mail notifications is there any other configuration i need top do in the class.phpmailer file or any othe config file?
I also hear that yahoo and gmail treat the notifications as spam or junk mail. is this so and if so what is the way round this?

    Sorry for the oversight earlier.

    cheers

    Re: Enabling E-mail notifications

ATutor should work without any adjustments if Sendmail is working on your system. Can you confirm that Sendmail is functioning properly? You can also use the SMTP setting in the php.ini file to point to a different mail server.

As for Yahoo and Gmail, we know no way around this. Unfortunately people receive notices from ATutor and tell their mail service incorrectly that it is SPAM. All I can suggest is to warn your students of the problem.
