  You Must Choose a Recipient Error when sending messages

  I had to reinstall my initial ATutor installation and everything is back up and running like normal except the emailing features of the system. I noticed at first my php.ini file did not have SMTP, smtp_port, or sendmail_from values properly defined. I since caught the error and modified them as they once were when email was working.
  
  I'm getting the error "You must choose a recipient" when trying to send a message. I restarted Apache after making the config changes to php.ini. What else am I missing?

  operating system - Win2k3
  version of ATutor - 1.5.3.1
  versions of php - 5.1.4
  version of mysq l - 5.0.22
  webserver & version - Apache 2.0.48
  copies of error messages - "You must choose a recipient"
  changes to default settings - none
  web browser being used - IE7

  Where is this error message being generated.
  
  I'd suggest first upgrading to 1.5.4
